Gin Rummy is a member of the Rummy family of games. As with most games there are plenty of variations out there, so the game might not be exactly like you play it or have different points for some things. Below I’ll explain the rules we use on this site. I’ll start by explaining a few basic concepts, and then go over the gameplay and scoring of the game. Gin Rummy Card Game Free OnlineBasic concepts
*Set: Three or four cards of the same rank, for example H8 S8 D8 or H12 S12 D12 C12
*Run: Three or more cards in sequence in the same suit, for example H1 H2 H3 or C6 C7 C8 C9 C10. Aces are always low, never high, and runs can’t wrap around, so Q,K,A,2 would not be a legal run.
*Meld: A word for both Sets and Runs. You might for example have three melds, where two of them are sets and one is a run. Each card can only be part of one set or run, for example if you have an 8 you cannot count it both as part of 8,8,8 and 7,8,9.
*Stock: A deck of facedown cards, in the middle of the table. Players draw one card from the stock in every round.
*Discard pile: A pile of faceup cards, placed next to the stock. Players discard one card onto the pile in every round.
*Deadwood: Any cards in your hand that are not part of a meld.
*Knocking: Ending the round by putting a card face down on the discard pile.
*Gin: When all 10 cards in your hand are parts of melds and you have no deadwood.
*Big Gin: When all 10 cards in your hand and the card you just drew are parts of melds, so you have 11 cards, all in melds.
*Lay off: Adding your deadwood cards to an opponents melds. Objective
The objective of Gin Rummy is to collect cards into melds and have as little deadwood as possible at the end of a game. The game is scored based on how much deadwood you have at the end of each game. A game can span several rounds, it’s over when one player reaches 100 points. At that point grand total for each player is calculated, with bonuses, and the player with the highest score wins the whole game. Gameplay
Each player gets 10 cards. The remaining deck is put on the table between the players face down, and one card is put face up besides the deck to start the discard pile.
In each turn a player must start by drawing one card. He can either draw the top card from the deck or the top card from the discard pile. Generally you only draw the top card from the discard pile if you know that the card will help you create a meld with some of the other cards in your hand.
*
Note: In the first turn, the starting player must choose to either draw the face up card in the board or pass the turn. If the card is drawn, proceed normally. If the turn is passed, the other player gets to make the same choice. If they pass too, the first player takes their turn normally.
Star casino theatre gold coast. After the player has drawn a card he must discard one card by putting it face up on top of the discard pile. If the player has drawn the top card from the discard pile at the start of the turn he may not discard that card until his next turn (also, that wouldn’t make any sense at all). He may however discard a card he has just drawn from the deck, or any other card he has in his hand.
The game continues like this, with players drawing and discard cards, while they try to build sets and runs in their hand. The round ends when one player knocks, by discarding a card and putting it face down on the discard pile. The player that knocked (the knocker) then shows his melds and his deadwood by putting it face up on the table. The opponent then shows his melds and deadwood. The opponent is allowed to lay off any of his deadwood cards onto the knocker’s melds if he can. For example if the knocker had a meld, H1 H2 H3 and the opponent has a H4 as part of his deadwood he can add it to the knocker’s meld, and then it won’t count as deadwood anymore. The knocker cannot do the same, he can never lay off his deadwood. Additionally, if the knocker has Gin or Big Gin (no deadwood) then the opponent is not allowed to lay off any cards.
There are some rules for when you can knock. They vary between different versions, but this is how it’s done on this site: You may only knock if you end up with 10 or fewer points of deadwood (human cards count as 10, aces as 1 and other cards their numeric values). The card you knock with (put facedown on the discard pile) is not included in that number. So, if you have just drawn and you have 3,5,9 as deadwood you would be allowed to knock with the 9, and then you’d end up with 3+5=8 points as deadwood.
Knocking with no deadwood, i.e. all 10 card in you hands forming melds is called going Gin. Going Big Gin is when you have 11 cards in melds, in which case you can say you have Big Gin and the game ends without you discarding the final card facedown.
The game also ends if neither player has knocked and there are only two cards left in the deck. In that case the hand is a tie, and neither player gets any points.ScoringGin Card Game Play Online
Scoring is based on deadwood and bonuses, the actual melds don’t actually count for anything, they’re only good to minimize your deadwood.
*Knock points: After all lay offs are made, the knocker scores the difference between his deadwood and the opponents deadwood. For example, the knocker has 3 points of deadwood, and the opponent has 21 points of deadwood, then the knocker scores 21-3=18 points.
*Gin Bonus: If a player gets Gin he gets 25 extra points, added to the knock points he already got.
*Big Gin Bonus: If a player gets Big Gin he 31 extra points, added to the knock points he already got.
*Undercut: If a player knocks but the opponent has less or equal deadwood points, then the opponent gets 25 points plus the difference in deadwood points, and the knocker gets 0 points. However, if the knocker gets Gin there is never an undercut, even if the opponent also has 0 deadwood points.
*Game bonus: After a player has reached 100 points he gets a special game bonus, 100 points, added to his overall score.
*Line bonus or box bonus: This bonus is added at the end of the game, and adds 25 points for each hand won during the game.
*Shutout bonus: If the winner won every hand in the game then the points for each hand are doubled before adding the line bonus. I wasn’t sure here how to handle it if someone has won all hands except for ones that end in a tie, so for now I’m requiring that you win all hands and none end in a tie to get this bonus. Let me know if you disagree with this.
And that’s it. I’m sure there are plenty of people who prefer other rules, but you can never please everyone and these are the rules I’m going with.
One of the world’s most commonly-played card games is becoming a regular staple in the online gaming world as well. Rummy and its many variants are enjoying a new wave of popularity among internet competitors that’s topped only by poker.
Learning the basic game is simplicity itself and most casual card players can pick up on the rules easily enough. In traditional rummy, two players are dealt ten cards apiece while fewer may be dealt for three or four players. One card is overturned from the deck. The first player may choose to pick up the faceup card or to draw the top card from the deck.
The objective for each player is to form “melds,” runs of at least three consecutive cards of one suit or groups of three or more cards of the same denomination; in turn, players may put down any melds in their hand. Other players may “play off” the melded cards by continuing the series, e.g. if a player puts down the 2, 3 and 4 of hearts, another player may play off the ace and/or 5 of hearts.Gin Rummy Online North Sky
Scoring is typically based on deadwood cards, i.e. those cards left in players’ hands. Each player remaining with cards is penalized based on the value of his/her remaining cards: aces are worth 1, face cards are worth 10, and all others are based on the values showing.

Chris Brewer played his first hand of poker while attending the 2012 Olympic Trials as a distance runner for the University of Oregon. He was just 19 at the time, and little did he know that just eight years after being dealt into that $5 buy-in home game, he would be playing in the highest stakes cash games in the world, with $1,000-$2,000 blinds and six-figure pots flying back and forth with just a few clicks of a button.
Brewer has made a meteoric rise up the ranks in the cash game world in recent years, playing poker professionally around southern California since graduating with a business major and a math minor. In the past year, Brewer has begun to play in more tournaments in addition to grinding cash games. He strung together a few deep runs in big events during this year’s World Series of Poker Online, making the quarterfinals of the $10,000 heads-up championship, cashing in the $25,000 buy-in high roller event, and making the final day of the $25,000,000 guaranteed $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event.
The field of 5,802 entries in the main event easily beat its guarantee to create the largest prize pool in online poker history with $27,559,500. Brewer finished in 32nd place, cashing for $55,880.
“That was awesome. I mean, it’s not as cool as I’m sure [going deep in] a live main event probably would be, but it was still just so exciting,” Brewer said of his run in the event. “As you get closer and closer, you realize, there’s a shot at this. It could happen. Because the entire time you’re playing something like that, I feel like at last for me, I [assume] I’m never going to actually win. I’m just registering. I know it’s good value, but I don’t expect anything to come from it. All of a sudden, I was still in the tournament on day three, and there are less than 40 players left. I was like, ‘Oh, I actually have hope now.’ It was really exciting.”
On the final day of what will almost certainly be the largest poker tournament held in 2020, Brewer ran a multi-street bluff that ended with him moving all on the river with just king high. Brewer discussed the hand with Card Player, walking through his thought process street-by-street.
Preflop: With 35 players remaining, and blinds of 125,000-250,000 with an ante of 30,000, Kelly Wong (11,223,575 in chips) raised to 500,000 from the button with AK. Chris Brewer (2,875,152 in chips) called from the big blind with K3.
Card Player: So you were one of the very shortest stacks with 35 players left. Kelly Wong, one of the medium-stacked players, opened with A-K, and you defended K-3 for a min-raise at a seven-handed table. First I’ll ask, is that defend more or less standard with your stack?
Chris Brewer: Yeah. You’re super loose defending off these short stacks, and especially with stuff that can flop top pair. Not against her hand [specifically], but as a general thing, flopping a king off of less than 15 blinds is just so valuable, you’re just not going to fold any K-X.
The Flop: The Q65 rolled off the deck and Brewer checked. Wong checked behind.
CP: The flop comes out queen-high and you checked. What’s your initial plan at this point?
CB: I’m just check-folding at this point. When that’s the flop, there’s no way for me to continue. So yeah, I’m just going to check everything, and I’m going to fold if she puts any money in.
CP: When she checks back, though, does that prompt you to consider adjusting your approach to the hand moving forward?
CB: Yeah, now there potentially are ways to win the pot depending on what comes on the turn. Also, I don’t really think that this is a spot I would expect the button to check very often, so when they do, it seems like they probably have a hand that really wants to check, whatever that is. It could be top set, but I think a lot of times it’s just going to be pocket jacks or A-K, or something along those lines. They have something that is too strong to get value, because it just blocks everything, or they just want to get to showdown.
The Turn: The 10 was dealt on fourth street. Brewer bet 690,550 into the pot of 1,335,000 and Wong called.
CP: So it was now a full rainbow board of Q-6-5-10, and you’re out of position. You bet just over half the size of the pot. What was your thought process at that point?
CB: I’m sure that I spun some randomizer and ended up with an aggressive number in this instance. But I think a hand like this, the approach makes some sense in that I’m going to get some sweet rivers to bluff, like a nine or a jack. I also do have an over to the queen, which in case she ever did check back top pair, that is equity.
Also, this is a really easy holding to bet fold, which is actually huge in this type of spot. It sucks if you bet like J-9 and get shoved on. What are you going to do? You kind of want to have I think a range, where it’s like you’re just betting hands were your bluffs are hands that kind of have some equity, as in this case where I could hit a king in theory, but you’re just going to get to fold if they shove without it being some really sad result.
CP: Which it would be if you had the J-9 for the open ended straight draw?
CB: Yeah. When you’re this shallow, that’s a huge issue. You’re way better off just check-calling J-9 and seeing the river. Bet-folding would be a disaster, but bet-calling it would also be a disaster, so you’re going to have to pick your bluffs from hands with much lower equity in this type of spot.
The River: The 6 paired the board on the end and Brewer moved all-in for 1,654,602 into a pot of 2,716,100. Wong folded and Brewer took down the pot with the worst hand, increasing his stack by just shy of 47 percent without a showdown.
CP: How does black jack randall die in outlander books. Can you tell me about your decision to back up the turn stab with a shove on the river?
CB: I think just not having an ace is pretty important in this spot. That’s the main thing I would care about is just not having an ace, because almost every hand that I would expect to fold just contained an ace. So maybe I could get a fold from pocket jacks, but I doubt it. I bet I would just get called in this spot. But I’m going to always get a fold from A-K and A-J.
I guess I could maybe get a fold from some middle pair that never improved. So it was queen, six, five, right? So, maybe I could get a fold on like A-5 or something, but yeah, I really am just trying to get her to fold. My hand can never win at showdown, so if she folds anything, it’s good. So whatever non-pair hand she has, if she folds it, then awesome.
CP: Did ICM impact your decision at all? Or were you kind of freed up to just think in terms of chip equity when assessing your decisions because you were essentially the shortest stack? Does that free you up to just try to accumulate chips and not worry so much about laddering up the payjumps?
CB: Definitely, to an extent. I mean, I do have to be concerned about some, because as long as I’m in the tournament, I have more equity than if I’m out of the tournament. But I think in the main event, people are probably going to under bluff that spot. So I actually expect my bluff to get through too often. So that’s not really like an ICM thing or anything, but based on the situation, I would kind of rather go for it more often than less there, just based on the way I think people are going to play. I could see people making insane folds in that spot, just because in the main event, they might think that no one is bluffing for their stack. Pechanga resort and casino phone number official site.
CP: Players might not admit it, but the fact that this is such a huge event with so many players for the buy-in and millions on the line, it might understandably impact their tolerance for risk in certain spots deep in the event.
CB: And I do think that’s a huge advantage for guys who play all the high rollers all the time. You end up deep in one of these $1,000 through $5,000 buy-in events, but you’re now playing the equivalent of like a $25K tournament. It’s so much easier for you to be like, ‘Eh, oh well, I’ll get this spot again.’ While someone else is thinking that this is the only time they’re ever going to play these stakes, and they don’t want to make a mistake.

It is important to realize that in poker, as in life, things are not always as they appear. In poker, one way this concept manifests itself is in the form of bluffing. The vast majority of poker players, especially those who frequent small-stakes cash games and tournaments, think the optimal winning strategy is rigid, tight, and aggressive.
While winning most of the pots that belong to you, plus a few more when your opponents play poorly, is a nice way to keep variance low and to have an edge, that edge will consistently be small. When playing against players who are not world-class (which will almost always be the case), you will win significantly more money by playing in a manner that exploits their sub-optimal tendencies. This usually means getting maximum value from your premium hands (as many recreational players already do) while also stealing pots that do not belong to you (which many recreational players do not do).
I do not want you to get the idea that playing in a generally tight, aggressive style is bad. The problem is that this straightforward strategy does not maximally exploit other tight, aggressive players. At this point in time, almost every poker player has studied one of the now-outdated books that advocate playing mostly premium hands. These players are excellent at being patient and getting paid off when they are fortunate enough to make the nuts against their oblivious opponents. These sporadic large wins are enough to beat the worst players in the small-stakes games for a small amount.
As you move up, however, you will face fewer and fewer bad players to the point that when you reach the medium and high stakes, there will rarely be an obvious, terrible player at your table. Most middle- and high-stakes players strive to ensure they do not make the blunders that the worst players make. But this tendency to avoid appearing dumb opens the door for you to steal pots when these tight, aggressive players do not have a strong hand, and occasionally when they have a strong hand but become convinced that you have the effective nuts.Olympic Casino Pokera Turn River
When looking at graphs of winning online poker players, tracking programs display a green line (the total profit), a red line (the non-showdown winnings), and a blue line (the showdown winnings). Most winning small-stakes cash game players have a highly positive blue line (when they go to showdown) and a breakeven or negative red line (when they win by making their opponents fold). This implies that to beat the worst players, they play tightly (giving up small pots and letting your red line go negative) and get paid off with premium hands (making for a largely positive blue line).
Click image to view full size.Olympic Casino Pokera Turn Right
Those who win at the middle- and high-stakes games often have a similar, but inverse, graph, with a positive red line and a negative or break-even blue line. These players win by making their opponents fold incorrectly, meaning they successfully bluff way more often. When they happen to play large pots, they will frequently be an underdog, but they steal enough small pots to more than make up for their losses.
In general, you will find that each specific player has a point in the hand where they act in an honest manner, betting with strong hands and checking with marginal and weak hands. Some players act honestly as soon as they put a chip in the pot. They raise their strong hands, limp their marginal hands, and fold their junk. Others raise preflop with all hands they deem respectable but then only continuation bet the flop when they have what they believe to be a strong holding. Many players in today’s game continuation bet the flop with a wide range but then play the turn in an honest manner, only betting when they are confident that they have the best hand, opting to check with their trash and marginal hands. More maniacal players are willing to play in an aggressive manner all the way to the river.
All you have to do against these players is figure out when their checks indicate weakness, and then apply an amount of pressure that will result in them folding the vast majority of their range, which will result in your red line (non-showdown winnings) going through the roof. ♠

Big und Small BlindsPoker Regeln All In Karten Aufdecken Spielen
Bet The Raise
Der sogenannte Take-Out.
Freeze-Out
Tapping Out
Poker Regeln All In Karten Aufdecken Game

One of the best things about playing poker online is the availability of freeroll tournaments. A freeroll is essentially what it says on the marquee—a tournament with Read more. That’s the concept behind Bet on Poker, a fixed-odds betting game from InBet. You’ll find all the same action that has made Texas Hold’em so popular online, in brick-and-mortar casinos, and on television.
Friday, January 1stBetting with Real Money in Online Poker Games
Thanks to the ’Black Friday’ of internet poker in April 2011, betting with real money in online poker games has become a bit of a challenge for some U.S. residents.
How does black jack randall die in outlander. On ’Black Friday,’ the U.S. Department of Justice took a hard line on online poker and other online games, drawing a proverbial line in the sand and seizing the domain names of the largest online gaming websites, essentially making them unavailable to online players in the United States.
The Justice Department’s actions left avid online poker players in the United States with only two options if they wished to continue their poker-playing habit: remove themselves from their couches and visit a casino to play a live game of poker, or log onto one of the many international online poker websites that cater to U.S. residents and play illegally.
While playing online poker in and of itself is not illegal in the United States, placing bets online through a U.S. financial institution is illegal under gaming laws in most of the United States. Some players became creative in their online betting, using prepaid credit cards, wire transfers and money orders so that they could continue to place their bets online. Doing so allowed them to skirt U.S. gaming regulations.
As of 2013, there were three states in the United States whose legislatures enacted laws which would allow online poker players to again legally place their bets using U.S. financial institutions: New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada. Residents who live within the borders of those states are permitted to legally gamble with money held in U.S. financial institutions without fear of repercussion from the federal government.
Even those from other states who choose to place bets online in ways which skirt federal gaming laws should be wary of which sites to which they are entrusting their money. Some sites make it hard for players to cash in on their winnings, while others have been accused of outright financial fraud. Some online poker websites are run smoothly, creating a pleasant experience for all players, while others are run poorly. Prior to placing any bets, players should research the site they plan to use and make sure it is reputable.
Quality online poker websites not only offer quick payouts to winners, but also provide a variety of poker games. Some sites will offer bonuses to entice new players, or to reward longtime players who continue to return to the site to place their bets.
Online poker websites - particularly those with cash payouts for winners - require players to create an account before being allowed to place any bets or play any games.
BetOnline has made mistakes and is far from a perfect sportsbook, poker room or casino. They had and continue to have their shortcomings, the most recent of which we highlight in our review below. But, as best as we can tell, they have righted their wrongs and continue to improve on what they currently offer to. BetOnline Poker is easily the flagship brand of betonline.ag, but the same software is used by sister site SportsBetting Poker as well. I’ve sent pics of royal flush on video poker and they say sol. It’s an appalling joke of a site. Gambling has a code of honor the way I was taught.
Players who choose to use any online poker website should heed a word of caution: because the regulations for online gaming are continually changing in the United States, a website which accepts U.S. players today may not accept them tomorrow. So it is wise not to invest too much money into a site that may not be available for your usage a week or a month from now.
Playing online poker with real money is a risky business. Only players who are aware of the risks - as well as the benefits - should consider it.
As sports betting continues to expand it’s footprint across the United States with legal, online sports betting opportunities, as does the world of legal, online casino and iGaming. Here, we’ll look at a rather rudimentary guide on how to play online poker and win.How to play iGaming online poker: Starting out
If you’re just getting your feet wet playing poker online, you’re not alone. Many are dabbling in electronic casino games for the first time.
Texas holdem is widely available online, as well as games like Omaha. The latter doesn’t have nearly the mass appeal or availability, however, so we’ll focus mostly on online Texas holdem. How to play online poker: Winning
Before we proceed, let’s just clear up a few basics. There are four suits and two colors in a standard 52-card deck. We have two red suits – diamonds and hearts – and two black suits – clubs and spades. Face cards are jacks (J), queens (Q) and kings (K). Aces (A) can be used either as a high or low card, similarly to blackjack.

Unlike blackjack, you’re not only playing against the dealer, but also the others at the table. In Texas holdem, you will get five ‘community’ cards dealt, and two ‘hole’ cards. Your two hole cards are not shown to anyone else. You must use at least one of your hole cards to make the best possible hand against everyone else at the table.
There will be a round of betting based upon everyone’s hole cards. The order is determined by the ‘button’, which is a round marker rotating around the table each hand. This signifies who is the ‘dealer’. The next two positions are the ‘small blind’ and ‘big blind’ spots. There is a pre-determined amount required to play the hand.
The big blind pays the entire amount, the small blind plays half, and has the option of matching the big blind to remain in the hand. After the big blind, each player around the table has the option of either ‘calling’, or betting the amount of the big blind, raising or folding. The betting goes all around the table until every player matches the highest bet made in a particular round.Betting Poker Online
After the hole cards are bet upon, the ‘flop’ is dealt. These are the first three community cards. Another round of betting ensues. Then, a fourth card, or ‘Fourth Street’ or ‘The Turn’, is dealt, and another round of betting, etc. Lastly, a fifth card, or ‘Fifth Street’ or ‘The River’, is dealt, and the final bets are made before a winning hand is determined. How to play online blackjack: Strategies
There are plenty of different strategies for winning at online poker, but the best advice is to be patient. It might seem rather boring to continually fold hands, and Texas holdem can be a grind at times, but impatience is rarely rewarded, and it’s a good idea to wait for ‘Top 10’ hands. Eventually, you’ll learn about suited connectors (cards of the same suit in numerical succession), or just suited cards in general, which can be good starting hole cards.
In addition, sometimes you will hit a set – or three of a kind – on the flop with cards which aren’t necessarily great hole cards initially. You’ll learn the nuances of the game as you gain more experience. For intermediate or advanced players, this is all common knowledge, but for beginners just learning the game, patience is a virtue.
While various tables can have players of very different skill levels, and you do not want to play ‘tight’, or too close to the vest, using less risky play initially will mitigate big losses early on and keep your interest as you continue to learn. Eventually, you’ll also learn how to bluff, which by a series of strong wagers, can trick other players into believing your hand is stronger than it might really be.
This is certainly for more advanced players, but down the road you’ll learn you can win a hand even if you have lesser hole cards than your opponent simply by wagering strategy.
As you start out, you’ll need to know the order of winning hands, and memorize this list:Sports Betting Poker OnlineRoyal flush (AKQJ10 of the same suit)Straight flush (Five cards in sequence, same suit)Four of a kind (Same card in all four suits)Full house (Three of a kind and a pair)Flush (Five cards of the same suit, sequence not required)Straight (Five cards in sequence, suit doesn’t matter)Three of a kind (Same card in three different suits)Two pairs (two different matching numbers or face cards)One pair (two matching numbers or face cards)High card (If you do not have any matching cards, it’s simply your highest card)How to play online poker: Play responsiblySb Poker Ag
Again, please be careful initially when setting out. Do not play for more than you can afford to lose, try and limit your alcohol intake and other outside distractions, and simply focus on the game.
In fact, some players like to engage in chatter at the table in person, or via ‘chat’ in a room. Block all of that out and just focus on the cards, especially early on. Remember your basic rules and don’t try and get too cute. If so, you’re going to really enjoy playing poker in the comfort of your own home.

This elegantly rustic ballroom accommodates up to 300 guests for a plated dinner reception and cocktails.
EAST WINDSOR - Leaders of Connecticut’s two federally recognized Native American tribes announced Wednesday they’ve decided to temporarily set aside plans to open the long-delayed, jointly-owned Tribal Winds casino in East Windsor, noting a need to focus on their existing casinos that have each been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a joint statement, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Mohegan Tribe said they need to focus their efforts “for the foreseeable future” on Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun, which have faced “unprecedented challenges” over the past seven months. Both casinos were shuttered for nearly three months earlier this year and are now operating at 25% capacity to prevent spread of COVID-19.
“Every day brings new challenges and we’re doing our best to navigate these waters because we know how important our businesses are to the surrounding communities, our employees and the state as a whole,’ they wrote. “The best thing we can do right now for each of those stakeholders is to focus foremost on the success of Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods.”
Earlier this week, Foxwoods announced that it will furlough less than 100 employees, reduce gambling options and hotel capacity as the ill effects of the pandemic continue. Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are located in southeastern Connecticut.
A spokesman said the tribal leaders recently briefed local and state officials about their planned delay of the $300 million East Windsor casino, which has faced numerous hurdles, including delays in federal approvals and legal challenges from rival MGM Resorts, which opened a casino in nearby Springfield, Massachusetts, in 2018 and has sought to block the tribes’ project since 2015. Map Of Foxwood Casino
The tribal leaders said they’re not giving up on the project. In 2019, they told state lawmakers they had already invested $16 million in the planned gambling and entertainment complex, which would be located on the site of a former movie theater multiplex along Interstate 91 near the Connecticut-Massachusetts border. It was originally projected to generate 5,000 jobs, including construction jobs.
“We’ve been through so many ups and downs when it comes to the Tribal Winds project. There have been many moments where it was clear the easiest path would be to just walk away,” they said in the joint statement. “And while there’s no way we could have accounted for this latest delay, we still believe Tribal Winds is a viable project that will come to fruition once markets improve and we’ve taken concrete steps toward restoring normal business operations.”
Both tribes are hoping the General Assembly and Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont finally enact legislation allowing them to offer sports and internet betting. State lawmakers are scheduled to convene on Jan. 6 for the new legislative session. Foxwoods this week announced plans to partner with sports betting operator DraftKings, in anticipation of Connecticut legalizing sports betting.

Underground poker is poker played in a venue that is not operating in accordance with the gaming laws of its jurisdiction.
What exactly is ’underground’ poker depends on the local laws. In many (but not all) jurisdictions, an unlicensed poker game may still be legal if the game is played in a residential building, the host does not profit from hosting the game, and/or the buy-in fees do not exceed a certain threshold .. Even if the game itself is illegal, in some jurisdictions it is not illegal to just play such a game - in such cases, only the organizers and/or organizers of such games are civilly and/or criminally responsible. The intensity of the harassment of clandestine poker by law enforcement agencies also varies by location. Often, players and hosts of underground poker games are far more concerned with being targeted for armed robbery and other violent criminal acts as opposed to being targeted with legal action.
An underground poker room will usually generate revenue for the profit of the host(s) and/or to pay for operating expenses by collecting rake and/or other house fees while not being a licensed gaming operator. Organized crime groups, such as the American Mafia, often host, provide protection for, or are otherwise involved in high-stakes underground poker games. Underground poker venues can also generate revenue by selling food and beverages (with or without the appropriate licences) and/or by offering side games with a built-in house edge such as blackjack or craps in addition to (or as an alternative to) collecting rake and/or house fees, but this is less common.Canada[edit]
Under the Criminal Code, any game of poker that is not specifically licensed by the relevant provincial or territorial gaming regulator is covered by either Section 201 or Section 204 of the Code. Section 201(1) makes it an indictable offence for to ’(keep) a common gaming house or common betting house’ with a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment, while Section 201(2) makes it a summary offence to be ’found, without lawful excuse, in a common gaming house or common betting house’ with a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment and/or a $5,000 fine.[1] On the other hand, Section 204(1)(b) provides that ’a private bet between individuals not engaged in any way in the business of betting’ is exempt from the provisions of Section 201, and thus is not unlawful.[2] This has been consistently interpreted to mean that a poker game taking place in a dwelling house is legal in Canada, so long as the host is not taking ’rake’ or otherwise directly profiting from hosting the game. Whether a poker game played on a similar ’not for profit’ basis somewhere other than a dwelling house (for example, in the warehouse of a small business) also enjoys the exemption of Section 204(1)(b) is disputed.
The laws governing gaming in Canada were written prior to the invention of internet gaming. Pechanga resort and casino phone numbers. Notably, Section 201(2) makes no distinction with regards to whether individuals present in an illegal poker room are actually playing poker, while on the other hand there has never been (as of 2013) a prosecution in Canada simply for participating in Internet gaming not licensed in Canada.
The actual penalties imposed for hosting or participating in illegal poker vary widely, and appear to depend greatly on the sensibilities of the presiding judge(s). For example, in 2011 a Winnipeg man (on appeal) won a conditional discharge despite having pleaded guilty to the more serious charge of keeping a common gaming house, meaning he did not get a criminal record.[3] For the less serious charge of being in a common gaming house, discharges (including absolute discharges) are not uncommon, especially if the accused has no prior criminal record. But this is not always the case, for example in 2012 several Sudbury men were fined for the less serious charge of being in a common gaming house, meaning they did get criminal records. Among those fined in that case was at least one man whom the presiding judge acknowledged had not even been playing.[4] Therefore, anyone charged even with the less serious offence of being in a common gaming house with respect to a poker game would be well advised to seek counsel prior to entering a plea on the charge.United Kingdom[edit]
Under the Gambling Act 2005, commercial high-stakes poker is restricted to licensed casinos. However, the Act and associated Regulations do allow for private games in homes and similarly private venues, such as workplaces, without the need for special licences. Poker may also be played in pubs to a certain extent, although the regulations governing such games are complex.
Nevertheless, illegal games are believed to be widespread, especially in Greater London. In a number of cases, club premises certificates have been withdrawn following allegations of illegal poker.[5]United States[edit]
In the United States, the legality of poker varies from state to state.New York[edit]
Under New York state law, it is unlawful to profit from promoting a poker game without the appropriate gaming licences. Simply playing in such a game is not unlawful.Illegal Casino Poker ChipsHistorical New York clubs[edit]
Some of the longest operating underground clubs have been in New York City. Two of these, the Diamond Club and the Mayfair Club, were famous proving grounds for such now well-known poker players as Howard Lederer, Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington. How does black jack randall die in outlander books. The New York Police Department, however, closed these clubs in the summer of 2000 during the Rudolph Giuliani administration’s law and order campaign[citation needed].Poker Chips SetRecent years[edit]Online Poker Illegal
Underground poker nevertheless flourished in New York City after the Giuliani busts. In Manhattan, circa 2004, the most well-known clubs included PlayStation near Union Square and New York Players’ Club (NYPC) (sometimes referred to as 72nd Street) on the Upper West Side.
On May 26, 2005 New York City police raided and shut down numerous rooms, including PlayStation and NYPC.[6][7][8] Clubs that were not targeted then voluntarily closed their doors for some time in spring 2005, but were mostly reopened by that summer.
The reopened clubs began to draw some celebrity clientele, including Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees[9] (who was officially reprimanded for playing in such clubs), and Robert Iler (who was actually present for the October 23, 2005 bust of the club Ace Point at 328 E. 61st Street).[10] Raids continued regularly throughout 2005, closing clubs such as Rounders on West 25th Street in the Flatiron District of Manhattan,[11] and, after a series of busts and re-opens, the Brooklyn Players’ Club in Park Slope area of Brooklyn.[12]
Clubs generally continued throughout New York City during 2006 and into2007, but seemed to the clientele to keep their size smaller to avoid theattention that the larger clubs such as NYPC and PlayStation brought.
However, robberies still remained common throughout 2007. This issue reached a crescendo when the City Limit, at 251 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, was robbed on November 2, 2007. Frank DeSena of Wayne, NJ was killed in an accidental weapons fire during the armed robbery.[13]Illegal Poker ChipsSee also[edit]References[edit]Poker Chips Walmart

City of Dreams Manila (Chinese: 新濠天地 馬尼拉) is a 6.2-hectare (15-acre) luxury integrated resort and casino complex located on the Entertainment City gaming strip at Asean Avenue and Roxas Boulevard in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines.[1]Overview[edit]View from the pool deck of Nobu Hotel Manila
It is owned by Melco Resorts and Entertainment (Philippines) Corporation, a Philippine subsidiary of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited (NASDAQ: ’MLCO’), the parent company of Melco Resorts Leisure (PHP) Corporation that together with SM Investments Corporation, Belle Corporation and Premium Leisure Amusement, Inc. developed the integrated resort. Melco Resorts Leisure (PHP) Corporation manages and operates City of Dreams Manila. The US$1.3 billion resort complex had its soft opening on December 14, 2014 and its grand opening on February 2, 2015 with live performances from local and international acts such as Gary Valenciano, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Ne-Yo and Kelly Rowland dubbed as the ’Concert of Dreams’ to mark its grand launch.[2] City of Dreams Manila is a sister resort to City of Dreams in Macau. It is the second of four billion dollar casinos to rise in Manila’s gaming strip after Solaire Resort & Casino which opened in March 2013.[2]
The resort consists of six hotel towers with 938 rooms, which includes a Nobu Hotel, Nuwa (formerly Crown Towers) and a Hyatt Regency Hotel (rebranded from Hyatt). It has 289 gaming tables, 1,620 slot machines and 176 electronic table games.[2][3] A feature of the casino resort is the dome-like structure called Fortune Egg. City of Dreams features a 60,000–80,000 sq.m. shopping strip called The Shops at The Boulevard, where K-Golf, an indoor golf simulator is also located. A theme park is also located within the property called DreamPlay built in collaboration with DreamWorks Animation.[4]
A new entertainment area, The Garage[5] features local and international restaurants along with a VR Zone Arcade, a partnership with Bandai Namco Amusement.References[edit]

*Betonline Ag Scam
New poker players at BetOnline.ag are eligible for a 100% deposit bonus. Players work off the bonus as they play, with the total bonus money being released in $5 increments at a time. Beyond bonuses, BetOnline’s poker room offers a New Player $10,000 freeroll, which runs once per month and is open to all new players who have made a real money. These reviews are legit. The possibility of cashing out is 0. Most tournaments have fine lines and even if you win you don’t qualify for winnings. They make you do all the work. I’ve sent pics of royal flush on video poker and they say sol. It’s an appalling joke of a site. Gambling has a code of honor the way I was taught. Betonline.ag scores very highly when it comes to prompt, efficient payouts, and this is one of the main reasons for the positive review we have given the site. What Our Readers Think BetOnline. BetOnline Poker Review – Deposit Methods If you’re tired of dealing with poker rooms that have limited deposit options for players, you’ll be pleased to know that BetOnline.ag Poker has one of the largest selections in the online gaming industry.
Our BetOnline Poker review gives readers an overview of what they can expect when they start playing at the site. The review is primarily focused on the new player experience, but may also appeal to players who have played at other online poker sites before, and who are looking at the opportunities available elsewhere.BetOnline Poker Review: Introduction
BetOnline Poker is the primary “skin” on the Chico Poker Network – an interesting network which is principally comprised of US-friendly sports betting sites with a couple of smaller online poker sites coming along for the ride. Interestingly, although the smaller online poker sites affiliated with the network do not accept players from the US, BetOnline Poker does – making it the destination of choice for players who want to take advantage of the site´s massive first deposit bonus and soft competition.BetOnline Poker Recent History
BetOnline has been accepting sports bets and wagers on horseracing on the Internet since 2004. The site had a small online poker presence until 2013, when it introduced a substantial first deposit bonus. The introduction of the substantial bonus attracted a lot of interest. Player numbers escalated at the site – more than doubling over the next two years – and, due to the site´s other promotions, most players stayed. BetOnline Poker is now one of the leading US-facing online poker sites in the world.
More recently, the site has extended the range of games and promotions. New Windfall Sit & Go games and fast-fold Boost Poker were introduced. The site changed the structure of its weekly MTT and Sit & Go leaderboard competitions, and the distribution of the Bad Beat Jackpot to ensure more players are rewarded with cash prizes for playing at the Jackpot tables. There are also more opportunities for players to buy into tournaments using their Comp Points – more about which is explained below.Getting Started with BetOnline Poker
The BetOnline Poker download is available for Windows, Mac, and mobile devices (iPhone 5/Android OS 6 or higher). It is incredibly quick to get up and running due to the uncomplicated software, and can be accessed via this link to visit BetOnline.ag. Our link will take you to a new web page, where you should click on the “Play Now” button in order to create your account. The account creation process is also incredibly quick. The registration page asks you for:
*Your first and last names.
*Your email address.
*A password (use a unique password).
*Your postal address.
*Your phone number.
*Your date of birth.
*Your mother´s maiden name.
Please complete the registration page with your details in the format they appear on any documents you will use to verify your account and remember to read the terms and conditions of playing at the site before clicking “Create Account”. Once you have created your account you will be sent an email containing your username (usually a letter followed by six numbers) and your password. You will also be redirected to the poker home page to download the poker software.
This is where you need to be a little careful. There is a link to a BetOnline client at the top of the page, but this is for sports betting, rather than online poker. Scroll down to below the list of promotions, where you will find a choice of “Download BetOnline Poker for Windows”, “Download BetOnline Poker for Mac” and “Download BetOnline Poker for Mobile”. The mobile download link will take you to a separate page where you can select the appropriate download for your mobile device.BetOnline Banking
The options for funding a BetOnline account mostly depend on where you live. Online poker players in the US and Canada have the options of Credit Card deposits, P2P transfers, cashier´s check, wire transfer or money orders; while outside of these countries players can use Skrill, Neteller or UKash (and POLi in Australia) to make their first deposit. Players from all jurisdictions can fund their accounts with Bitcoin, Litecoin or Ethereum.
Withdrawals are usually made by the payment method used to fund an account and are subject to minimum and maximum limits and fees. For example, checks by mail or courier can only be made for withdrawals of between $500.00 and $2,500 and are subject to fees of $25.00 (mail) and $35.00 (courier). Neteller and Skrill withdrawals (for players outside the US and Canada) are subject to a $9.900 maximum and a $20.00 processing fee. There is a 2% fee for withdrawals using cryptocurrencies – which are available for amounts as low as $20.00.BetOnline Poker Interface
We mentioned in the “Getting Started” section of our BetOnline Poker review how the software is uncomplicated, and this reflects in the design and functionality of the interface. The poker client is basic and simple to navigate, with each section of the lobby having easy-to-use filtering mechanisms. The Sportsbook, Horses and Casino tabs take players to the web pages for those particular activities, and the Flash “Instant Play” poker platform is similar to the download software, but has a little less functionality.
Using the downloadable client, players can instantly review their hand history and stats, and make notes about the players they are competing against (right-click a player´s name to access this feature). There is a nice range of customizable options to play around with to change the table display, sounds and animations, and a guide on how to use Hotkeys to manage bets of certain sizes and other betting actions from your keyboard.Games on BetOnline Poker
Although BetOnline Poker is a magnet for players of NL Texas Hold´em poker, it is also a primary destination for PL Omaha players. It is not unusual for waiting lists to form on the $2.00/$4.00 PL Omaha tables and BetOnline is one of the few places where there is still a vibrant 7 Card Stud community. The options also exist to play cash games of Americana and 32 Card Draw, and – of course – the latest additions to BetOnline´s portfolio of games – Windfall Sit & Go and Boost Poker.
BetOnline´s tournament schedule and Sit n Go lobby consists exclusively of NL Texas Hold´em games. The majority of tournaments are low buy-in re-buy and add-on events with minimal late registration periods. Nonetheless they tend to be well supported. The feature weekend events have guaranteed prize pools of $50,000 (increased to $100,000 on the last Sunday of each month), and special events with more valuable prizes are announced periodically.Level of Competition on BetOnline Poker
Up until 2013 – with the introduction of the substantial BetOnline Poker bonus – we would have said the level of competition at the site was generally very low. However, as the number of players using the site has increased, so has the quality of the play. These days there is a lot of NL Hold´em action at stakes between $1.00/$2.00 and $5.00/$10.00, and these tables are filled with accomplished players. The same can also be said regarding the PL Omaha tables at higher stakes.
Further down the stake limits, it is more likely that you will find recreational players with modest bankrolls and sports bettors. The micro and low stakes cash tables are beatable, but you should not be misled by the level of competition at these lower stakes when you aim to take your bankroll to a higher level. The difference in skill level is not so evident in Sit & Go games and multitable tournaments, as more accomplished players tend to play at sites that host more valuable opportunities.Cool Features and BetOnline Bonuses
BetOnline Poker has several “cool features” in terms of the innovative promotions the site runs. There also BetOnline bonuses for other betting opportunities that you will qualify for once setting up your BetOnline account. These include (but are not limited to):
*A 50% bonus on sportsbook deposits.
*7% rebate on your horserace betting action.
*25% reload bonus on all casino deposits.
*100% bonus on every deposit used to play the online slots.
(*) Important Note: Every time you deposit money in a BetOnline account, you are prompted to use the BetOnline bonus code “YESBONUS”. Players who want to take advantage of the poker bonus (a 100% match on first deposits of up to $1,000) should enter the BetOnline Poker bonus code of “VIP1000” and email Customer Support (poker@betonline.ag) to have the bonus activated.More about the BetOnline Poker Bonus
The BetOnline Poker bonus available through TexasHoldemPokerOnline.com is a 100% match on your initial poker deposit up to a maximum bonus of $1,000. This bonus is cleared as you earn “Comp Points”. Comp Points are awarded based on how much is deducted in rake from each cash game pot you contribute to or how much you pay as a fee to enter a multitable tournament or Sit & Go game.
100 Comp Points are awarded for each $1.00 raked or paid in fees, and the bonus is released in increments of $5.00 each time you have accumulated 1,500 Comp Points (equivalent to a rakeback rate of 33%). You are allowed a maximum of sixty days to clear the BetOnline Poker bonus and, once the sixty days have elapsed, the Comp Points can be used to enter an improving selection of poker tournaments. There is no cash exchange facility available.BetOnline Poker Review Conclusion
We believe that there is something for everyone at BetOnline. Although the time allowed to clear the maximum BetOnline Poker bonus is a bit tight and there is not (yet) a points-to-cash exchange facility available in the VIP rewards program, the site compensates for these shortcomings with a good range of poker promotions that are divided into tiers so that players of all bankroll levels have a chance to cash in each. Don´t forget further promotions exist at BetOnline´s online casino.
There is certainly no lack of action at the tables. BetOnline is not an exclusively US-facing poker site, so it attracts players from all over the world and you will always be able to find a game at any time of the day. The site is making strides to improve its product, its promotions and the opportunities to players all the time. For these reasons we consider BetOnline Poker to be the best option for U.S. players looking for an enjoyable and potentially lucrative online poker experience.
Founded in the early 1990s, BetOnline has a lengthy history and is currently among the oldest online sportsbooks. In the early days, BetOnline was a land-based sportsbook and nothing more, accepting wagers via phone (which they still do!). After over a decade of business, they went online and the rest is history. Quickly, they transitioned from being nothing more than a sportsbook to a full-scale online casino.
While there is a full casino offered at BetOnline, it is certainly most well-known as a sportsbook. In terms of sports betting options for bettors in the United States (and around the world), BOL ranks near, or at, the top.Sportsbook at BetOnline
Players Accepted: United States, Canada, All Others Except Below
Players Not Accepted: Panama, Malta, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Macedonia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine
The sportsbook at BetOnline is straightforward and to the point. The bulk of the book is comprised of available bets, with minimal promotional overflow or distractions. In terms of usability and overall experience, BOL is among the best in the industry. If you know what you are looking to wager on, you will be there within a few clicks.
BetOnline is a US-facing sportsbook. As a result of this, there is a heavy emphasis on the most popular leagues in the United States, including NFL, NBA and MLB. While non-US leagues and sports, such as soccer, are offered at BOL, they are not nearly as dominant as they would be at a UK sportsbook like bet365 or PaddyPower.
Users at BetOnline.ag will be eligible for a variety of bonuses, including at time of sign up and for re-deposits as well. The BetOnline platform is available both on desktop as well as mobile clients, to which we will specifically cover more in-depth in this article.Reputation of BetOnline
World Casino Index Reputation Rating: 5/5
BetOnline’s sportsbook has effectively steered clear of any and all negative publicity. Given its lengthy history and decades in the industry, this squeaky clean reputation is particularly noteworthy. Even the most fair and honest sportsbooks have had to deal with scandals and upset players from time to time, but BOL sports betting has managed to avoid controversy entirely.
Of note, the closest thing to a “scam” involving BetOnline.ag was focused on their online live dealer blackjack game in the casino. While this had nothing to do with the sportsbook itself, or even BetOnline (as the live dealer game was provided by, and run by, a third party company), it should be noted that this was resolved, and that any culpability was placed on the third party operator. As such, even the one minor, non-sportsbook related scandal at BetOnline was a product of a third party provider’s error, and had no relation to the sports betting operation whatsoever. It is our opinion that BetOnline’s sportsbook has a completely clean track record.Sports and Leagues Offered at BetOnline
Primary Sports Offered: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Soccer, Tennis
Other Sports Offered: Auto Racing, Boxing, Cricket, Darts, Handball, Golf, Martial Arts, Rugby, Snooker
Not Offered (or not listed): Entertainment, Political, Volleyball
There are a total of 6 primary sports offered at BetOnline. These include baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, and tennis. While these are listed as the “main sports” at BetOnline.ag, they are not the only events that are offered. Under “other sports” you will find rugby, auto racing, boxing, cricket, darts, golf, martial arts, snooker and handball.
It is important to note that many of the sports that fall into the “other” category frequently do not have any wagers available. As such, BetOnline is most viable as a book for bettors who are interested in the primary leagues offered. BetOnline is not known for their wide array of sports or expansive offerings of props or alternate lines, but instead for their emphasis on the major US sports leagues and events.Baseball at BetOnline
BetOnline offers baseball betting from leagues around the world; not only MLB games. Bettors can wager on baseball games in Mexico, Japan, and elsewhere at BetOnline, depending on the popularity of the event. Baseball games are made available according to demand, so you shouldn’t expect to see every Mexican League game offered as you would find every Major League line.Basketball at BetOnline
As is the case with baseball, basketball is very much an international sport. In addition, basketball is widely bet both at the collegiate and professional levels (unlike baseball). Basketball betting at BetOnline.ag includes NCAA, NBA and major leagues, like Euroleague, from non-US territories, including Germany, Spain, and even Asian leagues like South Korea KBL and games in China. This comprehensive list of basketball games at BetOnline makes it a front runner for bettors looking to wager primarily on basketball, regardless of the league. Beyond men’s basketball, BetOnline.ag also offers lines on WNBA games.Football at BetOnline
Football betting at BetOnline is, needless to say, the primary focus for the majority of bettors. The nature of BetOnline’s US audience ensures that they will always place a heavy emphasis on any and all football action.
Both college football (NCAA) and professional football (NFL) are available at BetOnline.ag. Canadian Football League (CFL) games also have lines posted. For most major events, an additional slate of lines and player props will also be offered for wagering.Hockey and Other Sports at BetOnline
The “big three” of the United States sports betting market are, by far, baseball, basketball and football. With that said, BetOnline does offer a complete lineup of hockey (NHL) events just as they do for the other major leagues of the US. RENO BLACKJACK REPORT
by KC Brooks
I have been addicted to blackjack ever since reading Revere’s ’Playing Blackjack as a Business’ when I was 15. The art of blackjack is a lifetime endeavor. I went through the learning process backwards, learning Revere’s Advanced Point Count first. I found out early that the actual count system is only a small piece of the puzzle. Presently, I travel ’my’ Devils Triangle (Reno, Wendover, Vegas}, playing mainly single- and double-deck games. Hi Lo is my choice of strategies and ’Professional Blackjack’ by Wong is my bible. I worship a large spread, and have been known to wong everywhere I go. Thank God I haven’t had to register as a wonger yet, but I am sure it is not too far off. I also help fellow AP Nick teach card counting at www.Blackjackclassroom.com.
The following casinos were visited during April 2013 for this report: Atlantis, Boomtown, Eldorado, John Ascuaga’s Nugget, Peppermill, Siena, Sands Regency, and Western Village.
The drive north on 95 from Las Vegas to Reno at this time of the year is awesome. I had planned to leave early in the morning and make Reno by mid-afternoon; unfortunately, my timing was off by about ten hours. Instead of an early start, I was on the road out of Vegas at four in the afternoon. So much for, ’early bird catches the worm.’
The colors in the desert in the late afternoon are a sight to behold. The views of the mountains, with their fresh dusting of snow melted away, only increased my aggravation for getting a late start. The seven and a half hour drive seemed to fly by because I used the time wisely, brushing up on my single-deck basic strategy. Since moving to Vegas, I play mainly double-deck games, but I grew up on single deck and make the trek north every few months to play exclusively single-deck games.
The rules for single-deck blackjack in Reno are pretty much the same everywhere: dealer hits soft seventeen, you can only double on 10 and 11, and you cannot double down after pair splitting. The house advantage clocks in at 0.44%. I stay away from the double-deck games because the penetration is usually just 50 percent; so, if you’re only going to get a deck dealt, you might as well play a true single-deck game. What are we looking for, you ask? In a single-deck game, we look at the number of rounds dealt prior to the shuffle, with the more the merrier.
This report reviews the following casinos: Atlantis, Boomtown, Eldorado, John Ascuaga’s Nugget, Peppermill, Siena, Sands Regency, and Western Village. The above playing rules hold true with the following exceptions: Boomtown, Nugget and Western Village have games that you can double on any two cards. The house edge is a mere 0.18 %, damn near an even game to the basic strategy player. The Sands Regency allows you to double down on 9, 10, and 11, which equates to a 0.32% house advantage.
Table limits vary from casino to casino, with most places offering a $5 minimum game. Western Village has a couple of games with a $2 minimum. Eldorado, John Ascuaga’s Nugget, and Siena have $10 tables; whereas, Atlantis has $15 minimum single-deck games. For high-limit players, the Peppermill has the highest betting limit of $5000, Eldorado and Atlantis are next with a $3000 limit, Siena and the Nugget have $1000 limits, Boomtown’s maximum bet is $500, and Western Village and The Sands top out at $200.

*How Does Black Jack Randall Die In Outlander
*How Does Black Jack Randall Die In Outlander Books
*Outlander Character Jack Randall
Below are some answers to commonly-asked questions about Diana’s OUTLANDER-series characters. (Read carefully, as some questions contain ’spoilers.’)
*Not Killing Jamie. Black Jack Randall had plenty of opportunities to kill Jamie but he never did it.
*Costantino wrote:It didn’t seem like Alex Randall had any of his brother’s tendencies or even that he showed any clues of ever being molested by his brother. The whole scene of him being sick in the end and asking Jack to marry Mary because she was pregnant was all tenderness.
*In Outlander Season 2, we found out that Black Jack Randall wasn’t a direct ancestor of Frank Randall, despite Frank’s beliefs. Mary Hawkins’ baby was that of Alex Randall, with her and Jack only marrying to ensure Mary was provided for after Alex’s death. But that didn’t make Mary and Black Jack Randall’s wedding valid.
Season three also saw the death of Menzies’ other alter-ego Black Jack Randall who was killed by Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) at Culloden in a bloody fight between the two rivals. However, there’s.
All answers are from Diana, either written for this FAQ or are quotes from interviews, articles or her posts online:How do you develop your characters? Do you keep charts or index cards to keep track of them?
No, I don’t keep charts of characters–I don’t write down anything much but the text of the book, and I don’t even write that in a straight line. I write in scenes; lots of little pieces that eventually get glued together.
In the later books, I do have to sort of count back and see what month of what year it is when a given scene takes place, so I’ll know what the weather should be like, but that’s about as far as it goes. I don’t forget the characters, because I can ’see’ them.
As for where the characters come from:
There’s a local group of fans here in Phoenix who took me out to tea every spring for years. There’s a resort that does a full formal English tea, with scones and clotted cream and finger sandwiches and all kinds of goodies–we all have a good time and they get to pick my brains about the book in progress.
Anyway, at one of these teas, the readers got onto Jack Randall, and what a horrible, terrible, nasty, loathsome, repellent….etc. he was. And all the time, I was sitting there, quietly sipping my tea, and thinking, ’You really don’t have any notion that you’re talking to Black Jack Randall, do you?’ Just bear that in mind.
Image at upper right: Black Jack Randall (actor Tobias Menzies) shows his evil side as he whips Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), from the Starz Outlander TV series. Are any of the fictional characters based on real historical figures?
There’s a ’real’ female witch (late 16th century) named Geilis Duncane in Daemonologie, a treatise on witches by King James of Scotland (later James I of England….)–the book is about the trial of a coven of witches whom James believed tried to assassinate him via black magic. (You know how women are always teaming up with the devil to do things like that…). I figured anybody up on Scottish witchcraft would know the name, and for anyone who wasn’t, it didn’t matter.
It is, of course, not the OUTLANDER witch’s real name–we meet her in DRAGONFLY under (what we suppose is) her original name of Gillian–she took Geillis deliberately as a name, because of the original, whom she of course was familiar with, owing to her researches into witchcraft.
Image at right: Geillis Duncan in the Outlander TV series, portrayed by Lotte Verbeek.
Jack Randall is not real–so far as I know. I add that proviso, because quite frequently in the writing of these books, I’ve written someone, presumably out of my head–and then found them, in the historical record. Mildly eerie when it happens, but it always reassures me that I’m on the right track.
Now, Mother Hildegarde was a real historical person, though she lived in the 12th century, rather than the 18th. Likewise, M. Forez, the hangman of DRAGONFLY, was a real public hangman in the Paris of the 18th century. Bonnie Prince Charlie and many of the Jacobite lords were naturally real people {cough}, as were Benedict Arnold, General Burgoyne, and George III. But most of the historical people are treated as historical people; i.e., I haven’t messed around with the facts of their lives or personalities—with one minor exception. Simon, Lord Lovat, aka “The Old Fox” was certainly a real person, and a very colorful one, too. I made no alterations to his life or persona, save for grafting an illegitimate and totally fictional branch onto his family tree by making him Jamie Fraser’s grandfather. Given Old Simon’s persona as recorded, attributing an illegitimate son to him would in no way be character assassination.
In the fullness of time, we’ll have THE OUTLANDISH COMPANION, Part II, which will include a complete listing and brief description of historical characters, as well as the overall Cast of Characters listing for the series.
(Links: Read the full text of Daemonologie online or download it for free.)How is Geillis’ name pronounced?
Well. <cough> I don’t know. FWIW, the reader on the abridged audiobooks (Geraldine James) called her GAY-liss or GAY-lee, and the reader on the unabridged audiobooks (Davina Porter) calls her (I think) GUY-liss or GUY-lee–and I’ve also heard GEE-liss/GEE-lie (with a soft ’g’).
Watch a Starz video on YouTube which explains the pronunciations of ’Geillis’ and ’Loaghaire’ as used in the Outlander TV series.Who is the ghost in OUTLANDER? (SPOILER)
The ghost is Jamie–but as for how it fits into the story, All Will Be Explained–in the last book. How is ’Sassenach’ pronounced?
SASS-uh-nak. It’s actually a little guttural on the end, a bit like the German “ach”, but not quite so throaty. That’s close, though.
Watch a Starz Youtube video which demonstrates how to pronounce ’Sassenach.’When is Jamie’s birthday?
May 1. I had one reader argue with me about this, insisting that he had to be a Leo, but I assure you he isn’t. My husband and kids are all Tauruses, and I know what they’re like. May 1 it is.Is the story true about the Dunbonnet and the laird who hid for seven years?
Leap o’ the Cask is real–so is the story of the laird who hid in the cave for seven years, whose tenants called him the Dunbonnet, and his servant, who brought the ale to him in hiding. His name? Ah…..James Fraser. Really.Who/What is Master Raymond? What is his significance? (SPOILER)
Well, he’s a prehistoric time traveler. I think he came from somewhere about 400 BC or perhaps a bit earlier (not technically “prehistoric,” but they certainly weren’t using written records where he started out), and the 18th century is not his first stop.
He is–or was–a shaman, born with the ability to heal through empathy. He sees auras plainly; those with his power all have the blue light he has–born warriors, on the other hand, are red (so yes, “the red man” is iconic). He has a rather strong aversion to Vikings, owing to events that happened in his own time; hence his nervousness when he sees Jamie. He’s afraid of them, but he also realizes just what a strong life-force they have–that’s why he makes Claire invoke it (using the sexual and emotional link between her and Jamie) to heal her.
His descendants–a few of whom he meets now and then in his travels–have the blue light about them, too; in large degree or small, depending on their talents. So he knows Claire, when he sees her, as one of his great-great, etc. grand-daughters. And Gillian/Geillis is another–you notice she has Claire’s sense of plants, though she tends naturally to poison, rather than medicines.
We’ll see him again–though not in Jamie and Claire’s story, I don’t think. Master Raymond should get his own series of books, eventually. So in fact, we’ll see Claire, Jamie, and Geillis again, then– but as secondary characters in Master Raymond’s story (you recall, Geillis mentions having met “one other” (time-traveler) in Voyager, but doesn’t tell Claire who it is).
Heaven knows just when we’ll get to that–in about ten years, at this rate–but we will get to it. <grin>Were Jonathan Randall and the Duke of Sandringham lovers?
No, the Duke and Randall weren’t lovers, though the Duke certainly understood Randall’s psychology, and no doubt used it to control him.How is Laoghaire pronounced? Where did the name come from?
I got ’Laoghaire’ off a map. And no, I had no idea how it was pronounced, though I had a guess. Since then, I’ve asked various Scots, and got answers ranging from ’L’heer’ to ’Leera’ to ’Leery.’ ’Leery’ seems to be the most common, though.
Watch a Starz video on YouTube which explains the pronunciations of ’Geillis’ and ’Loaghaire’ as used in the Outlander TV series. Why doesn’t Jamie use the endearment ’mo duinne’ in VOYAGER?
Er….well….<cough>. He doesn’t say ’mo duinne’ in VOYAGER, because between DRAGONFLY IN AMBER and VOYAGER, I acquired the gracious assistance of a native speaker of Gaelic, one Iain MacKinnon Taylor (who kindly advised on all the Gaelic bits in Voyager). Mr. Taylor informed me that while ’mo duinne’ had the right words for what I meant to convey, it wasn’t idiomatically correct–that is, the proper expression would be ’mo nighean donn’. So I used that in VOYAGER, wishing (as always) to be as accurate as possible.
Watch a Starz video to learn how to say ’mo nighean donn’ from real Scotsmen and members of the Outlander TV series cast!Who were the Paleolithic lovers in DRAGONFLY IN AMBER? What was their significance?
I didn’t really have anything specifically in mind about the Paleolithic lovers–they were simply a metaphor for the briefness of life and the importance of love–but then again, often I write something that I intend to be only colour, and it sort of turns into something else in later books.
There’s that ghost in Outlander, for instance….<g>
I got the lovers from The National Geographic, as a matter of fact. The original were a couple from Herculaneum (or possibly Pompeii) whose skeletons had been found during the excavation, lying the manner I described in Dragonfly–his arms around her, trying to protect her when the fire came down on them. One of the most touching and dramatic pictures I’ve ever seen. It’s stuck in my mind for years and years, so it was there when my subconscious needed it as an image of mortality and love. One reason why writers ought to read more than just their own genre (whatever that may be).

The best answer I can give here, I think, is the one I gave to a sixth-grade student who wrote to ask me the same question (I include her very nice letter, as well).
Dear Dr. Gabaldon,I am a sixth grade student at Falk School, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At school, we are working on a project called the I-Search. This involves doing a lot of research about a chosen topic and writing a paper. My topic is The Loch Ness Monster. I was hoping that you could answer a few questions about it, because I know that you write books about Scotland. My mother is a fan of them and said that you mentioned the Loch Ness Monster in one of your books.
If you could answer these questions, I would be very grateful. If not, it’s okay. I know you are very busy.
*Have you ever been to Loch Ness?
*Do you believe in the Loch Ness Monster?
*Why or why not?
*If so, what kind of being do you think he/she/it is?
*Do you know anyone who thinks they saw Nessie?
*If so, what did he/she/it look like?
*If not, what do imagine he/she/it looks like (If you believe)?
*What role did the Loch Ness Monster play in your book?
*What inspired you to include the Loch Ness Monster in your book?
*Do you think that scientists should continue to search for evidence of the Monster?
Thank you very much for your time. I hope to also become an author one day.
Sincerely,Olivia Perfetti
My answer:
Dear Olivia–
Well, let’s see…
Yes, I have been to Loch Ness. It’s huge! Very, very deep, and a dark blue color in good weather–almost black in bad weather, under the clouds.
I don’t know about the Loch Ness monster. On purely scientific grounds, then probably not–at least, not if the monster is as big as it’s been described; I’ve seen an analysis of the amount of biomass produced in the loch, and it isn’t great enough to sustain a population of creatures of that size (see, there can’t be just one monster, unless a) it’s immortal, and we don’t know of any immortal flesh-and-blood creatures, so you shouldn’t assume that one exists, a priori (that means, ’in advance of finding anything out’), or b) you have a situation in which the monster isn’t confined to the loch. Unless that’s the case, you have to have a population of a size to permit breeding; otherwise, they’d die out.
On the other hand…I don’t know how much your mother’s told you about my books, but the main thread of the story involves time-travel. Now, if you believe that time-travel is possible–and both Stephen Hawking and I think it is <g>— then you don’t have to have either a set quantity of biomass or a breeding population of monsters. All you need is a time-portal under Loch Ness, which would occasionally allow a prehistoric creature to pass through it.
OK, if this is the case, then the monster could quite easily be a plesiosaur, elasmosaur, or any other aquatic prehistoric reptile. Going just on the basis of the most popular published photo of the supposed monster, my guess would be plesiosaur.
I don’t know anyone personally who’s seen the monster, but I’ve met a lot of people in Scotland who believe it’s there. How Does Black Jack Randall Die In Outlander
In my books, there’s a scene in which the heroine (a WWII nurse who passes through a time-portal in a stone circle in the Highlands, and ends up in 1743) sees the Loch Ness monster when she goes down to get water from the loch. In a later book, when she’s talking to her daughter’s boyfriend, she tells him she thinks the creature she saw was a plesiosaur, and speculates that maybe it got there the same way she did–but through a portal under the water.
What made me include it? I’m tempted to say pure whimsy, because that certainly had something to do with it. However, there really is more to it than that. In Highland folklore, there’s a creature called a waterhorse; this is a supernatural thing that lives in bodies of water, and is rather dangerous; there are lots of stories about them. I did a lot of research on folklore, customs, etc. when writing these books, and so I saw a sort of tie-in between the notion of the Loch Ness monster, and the much older notion of the waterhorse. And when I began thinking about it in depth, I could see the poignancy of having this woman, thrown out of her own time, meeting a creature that might also be displaced–or might be an omen to her. You know, thematic stuff.
Well, I was a scientist before I began writing novels (I have a Ph.D. in ecology, a Master’s degree in Marine Biology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology), and I’m all in favor of scientists looking into anything they think is interesting. Still, there have been a number of studies of the loch, using radar, sonar, and so on, which have not found anything. But you can’t prove a negative (this is an axiom of the scientific method, btw; you have to have a falsifiable hypothesis. That means you have to have an idea that could theoretically be proved wrong. That’s why creationism isn’t science–it can’t be; you can’t prove that God doesn’t exist. Ergo, you don’t have a falsifiable hypothesis) in this case; there’s always a possibility that something is there, and we just haven’t found it yet. The odds are against it, but after all, you only need one monster. <g>
Good luck with your report! (Btw, there’s a Loch Ness Monster center at Drumnadrochit, on the shores of the loch. You might try Googling them and also visit their website.)
Best wishes,
–Diana

Well, the one Claire saw (in OUTLANDER) is probably a plesiosaur, as stated above. I have one of the British Museum models of it on my bookshelf. The model is blue…and so is Claire’s monster. <grin> The small details of appearance are based on a knowledge of basic reptilian anatomy, though.

Fans ofOutlander have been wondering whether or not Captain Black Jack Randall was based on a real person or not.
Season three of Outlander saw the death of Captain Black Jack Randall, which led to questions about whether or not the tyrannical redcoat was actually based on a real figure.
Captain Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall (played by Tobias Menzies) passed many seasons ago. The evil villain died at the Battle of Culloden at the hands of Highlander Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). Over the course of his time on the show, ’Black Jack’ proved to be the most bloodthirsty and violent character on the show.
His cruelty was unparalleled, as he used violence to ensure that he got everything he wanted on the show. His torturous ways meant that he was feared and loathed across the world of Outlander.
This has led fans to wonder if there is any truth behind the theory that ’Black Jack’ was actually based on a real person. How Does Black Jack Randall Die In Outlander Books
But how much is the character rooted in reality and how much was borne from US author Diana Gabaldon’s imagination?
Well, according to some sources, the character was not based on any real person from the Jacobite era, unlike other characters on the show. Outlander featured some real figures including the Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow) and Bonnie Prince Charlie (Andrew Gower).Outlander Character Jack Randall
A newspaper called The Scotsman, however, has suggested the character could have been based on captain Caroline Frederick Scott, who is described by the publication as having a “brutal streak”.
In the book Culloden: Scotland’s Last Battle by historian Trevor Royale, Scott was said to have been led by a “visceral dislike of Highlanders” and had a personal desire to kill Bonnie Prince Charlie.
Sound familiar? Based on this description, there’s certainly a chance that the idea for ’Black Jack’ stems from Captain Scott.
Let us know what you think.Take a look at this video of Jack Randall
